David J. Miller

David grew up in Buffalo, NY, and graduated from the University of Michigan. After a career in sales, marketing, management, and business consulting in the fitness industry, he has found fulfillment in teaching others, whether it be speaking Spanish or French or becoming a better swimmer. This leaves him time to pursue his passions; travel, waterskiing, and the creation of personal fitness challenges and philanthropy projects.

The day after celebrating his 50th birthday in 2011, David set off with his pet Weimaraner, Max to pedal through all 50 states. Bike50at50 was completed in 54 weeks after traveling more than 15,000 miles and crossing the continent almost four times. The American Heart Association, The Nature Conservancy, and the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) were all beneficiaries of David’s fundraising efforts throughout his adventure.

In 2020, the swimming pool was the venue as David overcame COVID restrictions and California wildfire shutdowns to swim 1 million yards between January and December. That’s about 570 miles or the distance from San Francisco to Las Vegas. With the community’s extraordinary generosity, David raised over $52,000 in just under two months for CRI. To learn more about that endeavor, visit swimamillion.org.

Now, with his 60th birthday coming at the end of 2021, David is working on ideas to celebrate this next landmark.

When not swimming or waterskiing, David loves to read, play tennis and enjoy a nice bottle of wine with friends. And, of course, he really misses Max. away, David is looking for ideas to celebrate that landmark.
